- Game must have been played recently
- No, "I remember years ago…" reviews. Recent play is mandatory. Recent can be a little fuzzy, but certainly no longer than a year and hopefully closer to six months or less.
- No scoring or ratings!
- Games are an art form{1}. As such, while we here at OGR{2} cannot rely purely on objective considerations, but we will certainly form an opinion based on criteria related to gameplay, graphics, sound, etc. Words, constructed into patterns called sentences, formed into larger bodies of work called paragraphs, forming the final structure called a review, but the occasional screenshot, video, or audio file are certainly acceptable garnishes to the main dish However, no cop out "1 out of 10", "3 peppers out of 5", or any other contrived scoring/ rating systems allowed. Ultimately, those constructs are still subjective terms masquerading as scientifically sound objective measurements.
- Honest opinions.
- AKA, the no shilling rule. We play the game, we like/dislike the, we share such feelings, but we do not allow pay for play. Everything here is organic. Nor will the popularity of any given property weigh into our reviews, be the y mass market hits or small market diamonds in the rough, everything gets a fair shake.
- Have fun!
- Even when the game is awful. Seriously, the bad games might be even more fun to review than the good games. Either way, the goal is to always dig deep into the subject matter with a joyous flourish. No half stepping!
{1} There I said it, which puts me on a particular side of the Roger Ebert debate, hint, he was not correct in his initial assertion.
{2} Please do not confuse the site name with my name, being a namesake can get terribly confusing. Sigh.
